Hello I’m Will, from goodfittips.com and my story is the inspiration behind this
. I’m going to start by telling you a little about my history. I grew up in a small farming town in the south. At a young age my parents instilled good values in me and my brothers and sisters. We weren’t rich but we never lacked for anything. We learned how to grow and harvest our on foods. I remember milking cows, feeding chickens and taking care of the ducks. For some reason I didn’t like feeding the hogs. I remember getting up at 5AM to start work on the farm.
In high school I played football, basketball and was the captain of my track team. I was skinny and athletic. I never had any weight or health issues. After high school I joined the Army and started on a long career.
Fast-forward to my 15th year in the Army. I started having problems with my back and hips. I was diagnosed with Chronic Bursitis in both hips and degenerative spine disease. I could no longer be the athlete I used to be. I couldn’t run as fast as I used to or lift heavy weights. I started physical therapy and taking pain killers. I spent much of my time in the doctor’s office. I started to become depressed and gain weight.
Fast-forward to year 17. The doctor told me I had High Blood Pressure and was borderline diabetic. I had to start taking medicine daily. This was a shocker to me because I was only 33 years old and I was only 15 lbs over weight. This made me even more depressed.
After finishing my military career, my family and I purchased a house in the country to get away from it all. Three years after my military career I was still constantly in pain and on medication for high blood pressure .I was 66 pounds overweight and not losing any weight. I was stressed out and depressed.
I was enrolled in a weight loss program for Military and Veterans. I had to call in my weight, and listen to an audio recording ever day. I had to document everything I ate and give to my doctor each visit. In my opinion this was over-kill and I frowned on the program.
At every doctor’s visit my doctors were constantly telling me to lose weight. It came to a point when my doctor got angry at me and said,” I know your in pain, but if someone in a wheel chair can lose weight, so can you. This really bothered me and caused me to wake up and take action.
At one of my last visits to my doctor, he told me that If I didn't loose the required weight by my next appointment in three months, he was going to put me on Diabetes medication.
I was determined to lose the weight and get healthy. All I could think of was my 5 year old daughter. I made the decision that there was know amount of money I wouldn't spend to live a more healthier lifestyle. I wrote a message on a sticky note and put on my bathroom mirror that read.
Never be afraid to invest in your health. Your life depends on it.
I researched different diets and tried many of them. They all failed but that didn’t stop me from wanting to lose weight and live healthier. I remember watching DR. Oz on how someone purposely gained 70 pounds and lost all 70 pounds in six months, while continuing to eat foods like: cheese burgers, bacon, sausage, porkchops and many of the foods I loved.
The Diet he used was a Ketogenic Diet. After much research I learned the Keto Diet wasn't hard to implement like other diets. A Keto Diet mostly involves restructuring your diet and cutting back on carbs.
After more research and seeing how easily people were losing 30, 40 and even 100 pounds or more I was intrigued. I knew this was the diet for me. I decided to give it a shot.
After 3 months I was down 25 pounds and the fat was falling off fast. My friends and family thought I was sick or on drugs because of how fast I was losing weight. After 4 months I had lost 44 pounds and felt great.
My doctor even stopped my medication for high blood pressure and said that I didn't need diabetic medication. He did warn me that If I gained the weight back he would have to restart my blood pressure medications and start me on diabetes medications.
My drastic weight loss caused people who knew, the fat me, want in on my secret fast weight loss plan. For 7 months I helped friends and family lose weight with this program. Since I had everything documented it was easy for me to help several people at a time.
I remember my weight loss doctor asking me What diet was I on and, if he could collect my notes from my weight loss journey. I told him yes and I was on a Ketogenic diet along with Interment Fasting. I’am all about sharing what I did to lose weight and how it help change my life forever.
My doctor was impressed and told me that he didn't ever want to see me in his office again.
Fast-forward 1 year later, 2 other Veterans, my nutritionists along with my personal trainer started a Health and Fitness company Good Fit Tips. We were successfully helping people with weight loss and health issues.
I hope that my story will inspire you to take action. If you take anything from my story, I want you to say to yourself everyday the following........
NEVER BE AFRAID TO INVEST IN YOUR HEALTH. YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.
